Multitask

She holds her cellphone to her ear
With her shoulder
Listening, concentrating,
Stuffing bites of gelatin dessert
In her mouth
Driving.

Gots to multitask
Or you ain't alive
Enough.

I am writing poetry
And processing vitamin D
In the sun
Happy.

When You Are Old

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one woman loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;

And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid her face amid a crowd of stars.

She flushed with pleasure
At the compliment he paid
Girl validated

A happy birthday
I visited a jungle
with snow storm outside

The violets came
Weren't there before the last snow
Joyous spring heralds

Today I saw a pair of hawks sitting together in a tree, I thought it would make a cool picture. Of course they saw me coming a mile away and flew off, but I caught them in flight. I need a telephoto lens.

Vita Incipit

Spring is a poem that nature sings
The sun ever more generous each day
Drink deep of the joy the new life brings
Winter's last few punches on the way

Only the hardy are born right now
Tough enough to take another freeze
The knife winter winds have not blown out
Survival is not gained with ease

So kind, the surfeit of early spring blooms
So longed for in midwinter's death
Just a patch of color to dispel the gloom
Quickens the heart, sharpens cold breath

Awaken, my heart!
Dare to hope.
